INSTRUCTORS - AMY TAO

Born and raised in Vancouver, Amy has been instructing fitness and exercise in a variety of capacities since 2001. As a Registered Kinesiologist, Amy has experience working in the rehabilitative setting, as well with the general population. She graduated from Simon Fraser University in 2007 as the top student in the department of Kinesiology and holds both a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance.

Amy is fascinated by both the scientific and artistic elements of human movement. Her passion for movement stems from an extensive background in dance, having studied ballet at the pre-professional level at Goh Ballet Academy and later expanding her training in contemporary dance at SFU.

In addition to Pilates, Amy has recently added GYROTONIC® to her teaching repetoire. She has studied Gyrotonic with both Mary Sayers and Dana Gingras and completed the Foundation Teacher Training Course in June 2007 with Master Trainer Karen Mullen. She is dedicated to continually updating her knowledge and is in the process of completing the Medical Exercise Specialist certification, the standard certification for fitness professionals working with special population and post-rehab clients.

Amy draws from all aspects of her background to provide enjoyable, safe, and balanced training to her clients. She finds great reward in working with the clients of Esprit de Core, helping them to experience the joy of movement while developing a better understanding and awareness of their bodies.
